It seems like every musician I know went to NAMM this year. I wasn’t there but I have been scouring the internet looking at some of the cool new gear announced and released this past weekend. These are some of my favorites. If you have any gear finds from NAMM please post them in the comments below.

The NAMM Show is a trade-only show hosted every January in Anaheim, California by the National Association of Music Merchants. The Association also hosts another trade show called summer NAMM in Nashville, Tennessee. If you (like me) are interested in attending a future show visit to see if you qualify to join.

And now for the gear…

TC Electronic

Ditto X4 Looper

The Ditto X4 is the fifth Ditto looper following the Ditto, Ditto x2, Ditto mic, and Ditto Stereo Looper. The new version features two independent loops, seven loop effects, stereo i/o, true bypass, loop decay, and MIDI sync. I currently own the Ditto x2 and owned the original Ditto looper in the past. This line is by far the best sounding and easiest to use looper I’ve ever played. I will likely be upgrading to the x4 soon.

500 Series and new versions of classics.

JHS refined some of their most popular pedals this year with Angry Charlie V3 , Charlie Brown V4, Morning Glory V4, Pollinator V2, Pulp’n’Peel V4, SuperBolt V2, and Twin Twelve V2. They also entered the 500 series game with some of their most popular effects in analog modular form.

Ernie Ball St Vincent Signature Model

Annie Clark’s St. Vincent is one of my favorite bands of all time. This is a very cool looking guitar and is ergonomically designed for a female guitar player. Check out these videos of Annie talking about her new signature model:

Digitech Trio+ Band Creator with Looper

Along with TC Electronic’s new Ditto x4 looper this is one of the coolest looking looper pedals on the market. For the solo musician this pedal is a game changer with many styles to play along with. It would also make a great practice tool.

American Elite Series & Offset Telecaster

Fender has replaced the American Deluxe line with the American Elite and also has a new offset Telecaster.

George Benson Signature Hot Rod Deluxe

In addition to the new guitar models Fender also has some new signature amp models. My favorite of these signature amps is the super-clean George Benson Signature Hot Rod Deluxe. Check out this tasty playing and storytelling by Benson:

Line6 Helix Rack

Line 6 Helix pedal product for musicians

Last summer Line6 announced the Helix which is a game changing (for the price) multi-effects and amp simulator in floor board form. I had all intentions of purchasing a Helix but the delayed release left me impatient and I ended up with a Kemper. I don’t regret it at all. The most exciting part of the original Helix was having that amount processing power in a floorboard. At a street price of $1499 (plus foot controller) a potential buyer might consider spending a bit more and getting a Kemper or an Axe-FX. Even with this opinion I couldn’t help but spend some time checking out this new unit online.

Supro 1695T Black Magick

Supro has an exciting new amp- a recreation of Jimmy Page mods to a 1959 Supro Coronado 2×10. Supro makes some amazing vintage style amps and this is one of the coolest looking that I’ve seen.

Mini Ego Compressor, Tumnus, and Ethereal Reverb/Delay

The guys at Wampler have a mini version of the ego compressor as well as a reverb/delay unit. In this video Brian also announces the Tumnus which has been out for a bit now. This mini klon clone sound stellar. There is one sitting on my pedalboard right now and I have no intentions of removing it anytime soon.
