Podcasts are a great way to pass time during commutes. I am always coming across new podcasts and have found some great ones lately. Be sure to check out my first blog posts on podcasts here: http://garnerguitar.com/podcasts/

1. 20 questions

Host Josh Scott of JHS pedals interviews musicians, artists, gear manufacturers and people from all walks of life that are involved with creating something. Scott asks the same twenty questions to each guest in these short digestible podcasts. Highly suggested listening.

2. The Scott’s Bass Lessons Podcast

Bassist Scott Devine interviews some pretty heavy bass players. Even if you don’t play bass this is a great podcast detailing how these professional musicians got their start, make contacts, and develop their careers. Guests include Tim Lefebvre, Steve Pearce, and more.

3. Song Exploder

Song Exploder is a podcast where musicians take apart their songs, and piece by piece, tell the story of how they were made. The production and guests in this show are extremely high quality as it is part of the Radiotopia family (99% Invisible, Criminal, The Allusionist, etc). Host Hrishikesh Hirway leads guests through the story of writing and producing songs through soloed multi track recordings, demos, and more. Guests include the likes of The Postal Service, The Books, Blonde Redhead, tUnE-yArDs, U2, Death Cab for Cutie, Thundercats, Wilco, Weezer, and The Lumineers.

4. The Luthierist

Hosted by Paul of Rhoney Guitars and Sully of Sully Guitars this podcast is all about guitar making. With some detailed information and some ranting this is always a great listen.

5. The Modern Musician Show

The Modern Music Show is where musicians can find tips, tricks, tactics and strategies to help them lead fulfilling and financially successful careers in today’s modern music industry. Daily interviews with inspirational and intelligent guest bring musicians into the modern world quickly, and show them what it takes, and how they can accomplish the same thing in their careers. This podcast has some great insight into the music business.

6. 60 Cycle Hum

Another guitar and gear related podcast. The show has gear reviews and some rather ridiculous craigslist and eBay finds. Definitely worth a listen!

7. Rips Music Podcast

This show is hosted by Rip Phelan, a local drummer in the Dallas Fort Worth Area. Rip interviews working musicians on pursuing their passion for music as a viable career choice.
